A love for horses runs in Kayla's family. Her Mom grew up riding horses and her Uncle owned a dude ranch in Colorado. After plenty of pony rides at the local fairs and spending a summer riding horses through the Colorado mountains, Kayla was hooked.
She grew up riding horses in sunny San Diego and enjoyed all English disciplines, ultimately ending up riding in the jumper divisions on the A circuit through college. Her love for medicine comes from her Dad’s side of the family with her Grandpa being an M.D.
It wasn’t until her time at UC Davis that she realized the perfect way to combine horses and medicine – veterinary medicine it was! She received her undergraduate degree from UC Davis and then went on to earn her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. Kayla enjoys multiple aspects of ambulatory practice including ophthalmology, reproductive services, and sports medicine.
When she’s not working with horses, Kayla enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband Adam and their dog Kaling.
